GBL Teams with event daysCastle Juniors Under 11’s will be holding trials for year group 2000s on 31st July and 7th August at Ward Park, Bangor. For more details and online registration Click Here Presentation DayOur Presentation Day was in stark contrast to last years, the sun shone the whole day. Because of the unavailability of afternoon pitches we had to run a Knock Out over the morning with Lisburn Youth narrowly beating their Mayors Cup Final opponents 1-0 in the Final. Domo McEnhill (Lisburn Youth), Aaron Grimshaw (Eddie Irvine Sports) and Ethan McBurney (Abbey Villa) all tied for the Top Goal scorer of the Tournament while Lewis Smylie (Shankill Juniors) won the Player of the Tournament.
High praise goes to Lisburn YouthWell done recording breaking Lisburn Youth. This season Lisburn Youth 2000s squad have went undefeated and cleaned up in every competition. High praise goes to Coaches Neill Caswell and Jim Gowdy, with a squad of only 16 players they have produced a side which is exciting to watch and though a couple of GBL teams have run them close, the high team morale and belief in themselves helped them achieved what is an outstanding achievement.

Mayor's Cup FinalCongratulations to Lisburn Youth in winning Castlereagh Mayor's Cup Final against Shankill Juniors. The league would like to thank Castlereagh Deputy Mayor, Councilor Michael Copeland, one of our founder GBCYL committee members for presenting the Mayors Cup and Medals Pictures from the Final are now available to view through the Derek Laverty Photography link in the Info menu. Derek Laverty Photography have been appointed as an Official Photographers for the league. Match play photographs will be advertised throughout the season and there will be a order form where originals can be purchased for download.
RegistrationsAnyone who previously lodged an application prior to April 14th through Internet Explorer please submit their application again. As a reminder to all, the website is fully tested using Firefox as Internet Explorer has it's limitations particularly when form completion is involved. You can however complete the application now through Internet Explorer.
Once an application has been made you should receive an automatic confirmation email, if this fails to arrive then your application failed to arrive with the league, for further information please contact the website. GB SelectThe GB Select side has now it's own link within the Results menu section. The final GB Select squad has now been published within this section. On behalf of Gary and myself I would like to thank all players, parents and coaches for giving up their spare time to attend. To those players who have not made the final squad, to make a selection stage is a huge achievement on it's own and hopefully the experienced gained will help in the future should a similar occasion arise. The standard this season has been extremely high and it has been a difficult if not near impossible job ascertaining the final squad.

George Best Cup Final heads to SeaviewIn this inaugural year of the George Best Cup, the Final is to be held at Crusaders home ground Seaview on the 1st May 9.45 KO. The league would like to thank Prentice Roofing for sponsoring this years Final and hope the successful finalists (win or lose) have an experience to remember at this Irish League Ground. Any teams not involved are welcome to attend. Successful Quarter Finalist should note that the Semi Finals are to be mid week games on 20th April, venues dependant on QF results. |
