The George Best Cup is an open knock out competition run by The George Best Castlereagh Youth League.

It is open to all Under10 11 aside teams (Birth Year seasonally adjusted).

Invitations to apply through On line Applications are open from the 1st September until the second Friday in November, preference will be given to GBL teams whose application are received in the first 2 weeks after that acceptable to the Committee, team applications will be based on a first come, first acceptable application basis.

• Maximum number of entries for this competition will be limited to 32.
• Existing GBL teams at the time will have a 2 week preferential lead in period from the 1st day to 14th day in September.
• Applications will be treated on a first come first approved application basis after the 3rd Friday in September.
• The first round draw will take place the last Friday November.
• Home drawn teams will have home advantage and will have to provide the venue but referee costs will be split between both teams.
• Semi Finals will be at a neutral venue with pitch and referee costs split between both teams and the Final being held at GBL provided neutral location. Season 09-10 Seaview home of Crusaders.
• Games will be played to a finish on the day with 5 minutes each way extra time followed by a 5 penalty shoot out then onto sudden death penalties should the need arise.
• The Final will be held at a neutral ground provided by the GBL.
• A round each month of January, February, March and April leading to the Final held at the beginning of May.
• The competition will be held under the George Best Castlereagh League Rules and additions for George Best Cup.
• Teams without their own league or competition photographic identity cards will be required to complete registration forms before being able to play in the competition. Details of the procedure can be obtained by contacting the league.
